WayFYI (“we”, “our”, or “us”) operates wayfyi.com. This policy explains how we collect, use, and protect your information when you use our service. By using WayFYI you agree to this policy.

• Account information: email address collected when you create an account via email/password or Google sign-in.
• Trip data: itinerary content you create including trip names, dates, destinations, and event details.
• Usage data: pages visited, features used, device type, and browser type, collected automatically.
• Marketing preference: whether you opted in to receive product news and updates.

3. How We Use Your Information

• To provide and maintain the WayFYI service.
• To authenticate your account and keep you signed in.
• To save and sync your trip itineraries.
• To send you product updates and travel tips if you opted in.
• To improve the service based on usage patterns.
• We never sell your data to third parties.

4. Third Party Services

We use the following third party services to operate WayFYI:

• Supabase: database and authentication (supabase.com/privacy).
• Google OAuth: sign in with Google (policies.google.com/privacy).
• Google Maps: location search and map display (policies.google.com/privacy).
• Sentry: error monitoring and operational telemetry (sentry.io/privacy).
• Vercel: hosting and deployment (vercel.com/legal/privacy-policy).

Each service has its own privacy policy governing how they handle data.

5. Data Retention

We retain your account and trip data for as long as your account is active. When you delete your account, all associated data is permanently deleted within 30 days. You can delete your account at any time from your account settings.

6. Data Backup and Your Responsibility

WayFYI currently relies on the underlying database provider (Supabase) for infrastructure-level data durability. We take manual snapshots periodically.

WayFYI is not a system of record for critical itinerary data. We strongly recommend that you maintain your own copies of any itinerary you intend to rely on during travel, such as screenshots, exports, or printouts. Please do not treat WayFYI as the only source of your trip details.

No system is perfectly immune to data loss. While we take reasonable measures to protect your data, we cannot guarantee against all forms of loss, corruption, or unavailability. By using WayFYI you accept this risk as a condition of use.

7. Your Rights

Depending on your location you may have the right to:

• Access the personal data we hold about you.
• Request correction of inaccurate data.
• Request deletion of your data.
• Opt out of marketing communications at any time.
• Data portability (export of your data).

8. Cookies and Analytics

WayFYI uses essential cookies to keep you signed in and remember your settings. These cannot be turned off because the app would stop working without them.

With your consent, we may also use a privacy-respecting analytics provider to understand how WayFYI is used so we can improve it. Analytics data covers things like page views, click events, and an anonymous user identifier. We do not:

• Use cookies for advertising or retargeting.
• Sell or share your data with third parties.
• Track you across other websites.

We show a consent banner to everyone on their first visit, and analytics only loads after you give explicit permission. You can change your choice anytime via the “Cookie preferences” link in the footer of any page.

9. Children’s Privacy

WayFYI is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.

10. Eligibility and Minimum Age

WayFYI is intended for adults. You must be 18 years of age or older to create an account or use the service. We ask new accounts to confirm this requirement during signup. If we learn that an account belongs to someone under 18, we may suspend or remove it.
